Climate Stories Driving Change

KRISHNA’S STORY

My name is Krishna Zamora and I grew up in Chile and now I live in Hudson Valley. I decided to move to Hudson Valley partly because of my marriage but also for my kids in order to ensure a good life and a good community for them. I started working at Joule Assets because of my close, old friend Victor (who also works at Joule Assets) I had worked with Victor in the past and we also teach Salsa classes together. Victor asked for help with some translation into Spanish a few times and then I just ended up staying, I’m always around the events helping to set up tables and talking and helping the native Spanish speakers.

My children are really interested in climate change and really care about the environment, this motivates me to work with solutions like CCA and Community Solar because I believe it can provide a better future for my children.

I’m also really motivated to help the Spanish community since I feel that there is a language barrier and that the Spanish speakers get left behind; I’m helping them catch up. And that’s really my favorite part of the job, helping people understand that they can make a change and that their actions matter.

If I could change anything to help battle the climate crisis, I would change the news so that it doesn’t sound like we are about to die tomorrow, but instead make it more educational and teach people about what they can do. Give them the tools to help.

When I’m not busy helping our community, I like to dance. I’ve been dancing since I was five and I’ve been teaching others how to dance since I was fifteen.
